Get Your Pre-Baby Body Back With a Mommy Makeover

While pregnancy and childbirth are both beautiful, miraculous feats of the female body, they certainly do change things. As a new mom, you may notice a slew of differences in your body that make you uncomfortable physically, mentally, or both.

With a mommy makeover by Dr. Husam Elias at Southern California Center for Surgical Arts, you can restore your body and regain your confidence.

What’s a mommy makeover?

A mommy makeover is an all-in-one cosmetic procedure that restores your body shape after pregnancy and childbirth. Dr. Elias aims to tighten, tone, and shape your body into one you’ll love to show off.

A mommy makeover consists of several different procedures performed in the same surgical session, although everyone’s makeover differs a little bit based on their body goals. You might undergo any of the following procedures.

Tummy tuck

Also known as abdominoplasty, a tummy tuck tightens and tones your belly by removing excess fat and reshaping the skin. This creates a smoother, firmer midsection.

Breast augmentation

One of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the United States, a breast augmentation (known colloquially as a “boob job”) involves saline or silicone implants to improve the size and shape of your breasts.

Breast lift

Similar to a breast augmentation, a breast lift improves the shape and symmetry of your breasts. But a breast lift does not involve implants. Dr. Elias may perform both breast procedures during a mommy makeover.

During liposuction (which can be part of a tummy tuck or done on its own), Dr. Elias suctions excess fat from particular areas, such as your midsection or buttocks, to reshape your body.

Body sculpting

Dr. Elias offers a variety of body contouring treatments designed to remove fat from very stubborn areas. Body sculpting is usually a complement to the bigger procedures in a mommy makeover.

What to expect before, during, and after a mommy makeover

Getting a mommy makeover is certainly no small feat, so you should prepare yourself for what to expect before, during, and after your procedure. Dr. Elias provides you with pre-op and post-op instructions, as well as fully explaining your procedure, but you can expect this general rundown.

You should be healthy going into your mommy makeover. You should stop smoking at least three weeks before your procedure and maintain a healthy diet leading up to your appointment. You should also make an effort to stay hydrated and exercise in the months leading up to your mommy makeover.

You’re asleep from anesthesia during the procedure, so you don’t feel a thing. Dr. Elias makes sure you are comfortable before he begins.

Recover and enjoy your new body. Because everyone’s procedure is different, the recovery timeline differs. In general, though, you can expect to head home the same day as your procedure because mommy makeovers are typically outpatient surgeries.

You’ll need several days and up to several weeks to rest, so make sure you plan child care accordingly. You may have strict lifting restrictions, so you may need someone to help you with any tasks that involve picking up your baby. You may also have diet restrictions and you may need pain medications. Dr. Elias will explain everything in full detail.
